In 2012, Villa Rancho Bernardo Healthcare
redesigned its Therapy Department by providing an expanded 2400 square foot gym
and upgraded its therapy equipment to include the HUR Fitness Equipment and
SciFit Total Body Ergometers.
HUR Health and Fitness Equipment provides strength exercise machines and balance testing platforms to implement
effective and measurable active aging programs to promote independence,
mobility, fall prevention and incontinence reduction.
HUR's strength exercise machines are designed
to implement rehabilitation and physical therapy programs and are
based on the extremely smooth pneumatic strength air-resistance technology
which allows patients to start rehabilitation and physical therapy earlier and safer, by reducing stress
on joints and connective tissues.
An exciting part of the Therapy Gym is the
addition of the HUR iBalance machine. iBalance provides computerized balance testing
and training platforms for Fall Prevention Strategies.
Developed by rehabilitation professionals, the
SCIFIT Pro2 Total Body Ergometers is the industry’s most versatile rehab tool.
The Pro2 offers upper body, lower body or total body exercise.
The residents increased participation in the
therapy program has been tremendous. The gym is busy throughout the day with
residents working out on the state of the art equipment. Also featured are multiple
wide screen TVs to stay up to date on the daily news or sports and views from panoramic
windows of the beautiful landscape yard and rose garden patio. The ultimate
benefit to most of the rehabilitation residents has been a quicker return to
their homes in a healthier and safer physical state.
